The significance of 2009 was that it was the first full year SWG in the TF2 world. Moments aren't limited a certain time frame, but exist to make us laugh, cry, or note a time of importance.
Number 10: SWG Servers never empty for several days straight December 10 - December 17
With the Demo vs. Soldier War update, the servers saw unbelievable traffic during that time. Polls were drawn up to see if either Team Demo or Team Soldier should win but in the end Team Sniper won.
Number 9: Shoutbox Breaks Some time during August
The loss of the shoutbox hurt everyone. People were wandering around all day with nothing to do. Substitutes were made like one's Hubage and Litt1eH set up but it was never quite the same without it. Shoutbox eventually made a comeback on September 11, and the first conversation on it was about a magical fridge on sale.
Number 8: Gallehant wins the Pyro Challenge October 3rd
The Challenge itself was epic. Everybody had to go Pyro on the Blue team and Red team was a random mix of classes. One of the great moments of the game was when cHUMPcHANG3 mentioned that it would be quite sad to see one of the pyros on Blue Team was backstabbed and only seconds later, a teammate was backstabbed. Gallehant eventually went on to claim the title of best Pyro.
Number 7: Sud-N-Dark becomes a server admin Some time in July
The significance of Sud-N-Dark becoming an Admin I believe is lost because he is currently the longest running admin on the server. He has become one of the best examples of what an SWG member should be.
Number 6: Killy Wonka Quits November 8
The waves created by this event were unlike any other SWG had. Despite warnings from one the members, SWG decided to host a match between Server Regulars against SWG members. SWG was rolled repeatedly and Killy's eventually competitiveness got the better of him and made him quit SWG in the middle of the match. Fallout from this incident however improved the next day. Killy Wonka apologized for his immaturity but decided that leaving SWG was still for the best. The SWG community eventually decided on a whole that competitive matches weren't its forte.
Number 5: SWG adds more servers Late August
New servers were hinted throughout the summer and in late August, Dovi delivered. The Rotation Server eventually swapped places with the ailing Payload server. The servers attracted many members to come join, like Pebble_Kill of the Arena server.
Number 4: The_Butch leaves, then comes back again December 2- December 4
With RL issues troubling him, Butch decided to take an indefinite leave from SWG which could have easily been his last post ever. SWG felt as if it lost a large part of itself and was somewhat lethargic. During the time Butch was gone, Gallehant, one of SWG's oldest members, was appointed Admin. And in typical Butch fashion, Butch came back one day later and made the leaders look like total jackasses.
Number 3: Morbid becomes the first SWG to Resign September 15
Morbid was well known on the server for being an Admin and a damn good one at that, but he was best known for his dark and witty humor on the forums. Morbid resigned because inability to play and spend significant time on TF2. Quoting Litt1eH "You leave behind a legacy. We shall tell our SWG grandchildren about the god-like pyro/engie named Morbid"
Number 2: SWG becomes 100% again Fall
If it weren't for the efforts of one man, SWG could still very well be struggling with a server that refused to work. Hubage just doesn't get enough credit for single-handedly fixing the server and then integrating several tools into it.
Number 1: A Change in Leadership September 17
What more can I say? Litt1eH, G4M3, and me roxors ^_^
I know, I know, it's a bit late but there were so many things to go through and I was busy for the last couple of days >_<
