Is anyone into Hardcore (as in punk not that metalcore BS) or Punk in general?

Metal is trying too hard. at least hardcore has a purpose.
It's all the same shit to me. Younger generations come in, change two things and call it an all new genre. It's stupid really.
punk a little here, i listen to a little of everything, mostly alternative, but im a pretty big fan of dropkick murphys, nofx, and a few others

Kinda lol-ing over the "hardcore has a purpose" comment. Almost peed a little actually.
Edit: I'm considering trolling this thread. It has potential.
It's punk on steroids. No instrumentation, lack of guitar, emphasis on bass, lots of repetitive power chords to make it sound like metal, etc.
People say that the lyrics are actually worthwhile in contrast to metal, but hearing a bunch of adolescent males drone on about the government is the last thing on Earth I need to hear. Most of them are high school drop-outs and don't have the first clue about what Congress does.
